Official Launch of the ILLF and the Luta Livre Series
The ILLF β International Luta Livre Federation officially announces the launch of its website and its international competition circuit: the Luta Livre Series.
This launch marks the beginning of an ambitious project aimed at structuring, developing, and promoting Luta Livre on a global scale. Through this initiative, the ILLF seeks to create an international platform dedicated to athletes, organizations, and practitioners of the discipline.
The Luta Livre Series: An International Circuit
With the creation of the Luta Livre Series, the ILLF is establishing an international competition circuit designed to bring together athletes and organizations from around the world.
For the 2026β2027 season, the circuit is expected to include between 15 and 21 events, organized across several countries. These dates will be progressively announced as the international calendar for the season is finalized.
Several events have already taken place prior to the official launch, helping to lay the foundations for this new international circuit.
The goal of the Luta Livre Series is to provide regular competition opportunities for athletes while contributing to the growth and visibility of the discipline worldwide.
A Unique Project: Global Research and Genealogical Mapping
Beyond organizing competitions, the International Luta Livre Federation is also developing an important research initiative focused on the history and evolution of Luta Livre.
The ILLF aims to conduct extensive research to map the different schools, lineages, and influences of the discipline around the world.
The objective is to establish a global genealogical tree of Luta Livre, highlighting the connections between generations of practitioners, academies, and organizations that have contributed to the development of the discipline.
This initiative will help provide a clearer understanding of the evolution of Luta Livre and highlight the different branches that make up the international community today.
An International Vision for the Discipline
The ILLF also aims to actively contribute to the global development of Luta Livre by creating an international ranking system, designed to recognize athlete performance across the circuit and affiliated events.
Within this vision, several major events are already being planned.
A European Luta Livre Championship is scheduled to take place in Lisbon in 2027, bringing together some of the continentβs top competitors.
In addition, a World Championship in Rio de Janeiro is currently in preparation and is expected to be announced very soon.
A New Chapter for Luta Livre
With the launch of the International Luta Livre Federation (ILLF) and the Luta Livre Series, a new chapter begins for the discipline.
Through international development, the structuring of a competitive circuit, and dedicated historical research, the ILLF aims to build a strong foundation for the future of Luta Livre.
The mission is clear: to grow Luta Livre worldwide while honoring and understanding its history and roots.
